What is so different about the PicoSure laser?
Until the launch of PicoSure, Q-Switched lasers had been considered the gold standard for removing tattoos. Q-Switched laser treatments use thermal energy to heat up and break apart the ink particles. Now with PicoSure, ultra-short pulses hit the ink particle with a pressure so great, the ink shatters into tiny dust like particles. Because the particles are so small, they are more readily absorbed and eliminated by the body. PicoSure offers more comfort with less downtime, and it has been proven successful in treating stubborn blue and green inks, as well as previously treated tattoos that were not successfully cleared in the past with other lasers.
How does PicoSure tattoo removal work?
Laser energy is delivered to the tattoo, targeting the pigment in the ink, breaking it down into smaller particles The particles are then eliminated through the body's natural processes resulting in a gradual lightening of the tattoo ink. Treatments are usually spaced at least 6-8 weeks apart, until the desired result is achieved, ie. removal vs fading for a cover up tattoo.
Because PicoSure is safe and gentle, it can be used on many sensitive areas of the body, including the face, chest, hands, legs, and more.
What is PicoSure skin revitalization?
The PicoSure skin revitalization treatment can improve the look of your skin and give you a more youthful appearance. I am able to treat a wide variety of skin issues, including freckles, brown spots, pigmented lesions, wrinkles, acne scars, and more! I am also able to fade unwanted scars with this treatment. Because this laser has so many different functions, I can treat many conditions and customize a treatment plan just for you.
How many treatments will tattoo removal require?
It depends on multiple variables, such as the ink type, size and age of the tattoo, location on the body, type of laser used, lifestyle habits, etc. During your consultation, I will evaluate your tattoo and recommend a realistic treatment regimen to help you achieve the best results.
What does laser tattoo removal feel like?
Many compare it to the feeling of getting a tattoo, except faster. Most people experience minimal discomfort and describe the skin revitalization treatments as feeling like the snapping of a rubber band. I will help make it as comfortable as possible, using a cooling device, numbing cream, and ice packs as needed.
After the procedure, most experience only 1-3 hours of minor swelling and redness. Because PicoSure does not damage the surface of the skin, make-up, moisturizers and sunscreens may be applied immediately following treatment.
How will my skin look after the laser treatment?
The ideal clinical endpoint for the tattoo treatment is an immediate slight whitening or "frosting" of the skin, however that will subside soon after the treatment is complete. Other observable effects include mild swelling and redness, for both tattoo removal and skin revitalization.
How often will I need treatments?
While it typically takes 6-8 weeks for the body to absorb and expel the ink particles, every client and tattoo responds differently. It depends on the procedure you feel is right for you. Following the recommended post treatment protocol helps to improve the results and reduce the chance of small adverse events.
Can I lighten the tattoo to have another one put on top?
Yes! And doing this can help avoid having to use excessive ink for a cover-up. Fading tattoos provides tattoo artists a cleaner canvas for their art and fewer restrictions to work around.
How much does tattoo removal cost?
Prices are reasonable and depend mainly on tattoo size and number of treatments needed. During consultations, I review the estimated cost.
